Easy bubble tea recipe you can try at home:
Ingredients:
- Tapioca pearls
- Red, Green, Blue (or any tea of your choice)
- Sugar (or stevia monkfruit or other sweetener of your choice)
- Milk (whole, almond, or any milk alternative)
- Lots of Ice cubes
For the tapioca pearls:
- Boil water: In a pot, bring water to a boil.
- Cook tapioca pearls: Add tapioca pearls into the boiling water. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Cook for 5-10 minutes (or follow package instructions) until they float and become soft.
- Drain and sweeten: Drain the tapioca pearls and rinse with cold water. For sweetness, toss them in a bit of sugar or honey.
For the tea:
- Brew tea: Steep in hot water for about 3-5 minutes then strain the tea through a cloth strainer . The tea should be strong, so let it brew longer if you prefer even more so! If you are making blue tea and would rather have purple, drop a few drips of lemon or other acidic mixer in.
- Sweeten the tea: Add sugar or sweetener to taste while the tea is still hot. Stir well and allow the tea to cool.
Assembling the bubble tea:
- Fill the glass: Place a few tablespoons of cooked tapioca pearls in the bottom of a glass.
- Add ice: Fill the glass with ice cubes.
- Pour tea: Pour the cooled tea over the ice.
- Add milk: Top it off with your milk or mix of choice.
- Stir and enjoy: Use a wide mouth straw to stir everything together and sip your homemade bubble tea!
